About the Role:

Compass International School Doha is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Director of Performing Arts. This leadership role will oversee the Performing Arts team across all three of our campuses: Al Themaid, Madinat Khalifa, and Gharaffa. You will work with students ranging from 3 to 18 years old and support teachers across Music, Dance, and Drama to help nurture the creative talents of our students.

The Director will focus on enhancing the Music curriculum, particularly in GCSE and the Sixth Form (Compass PLUS), as well as strengthening the school's extra-curricular and performance offerings across all campuses. As part of the school's commitment to excellence, you will also be involved in the Juilliard Creative Classroom programme for Years 1-9, offering a unique and exciting opportunity for students and staff alike.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Lead and inspire the Performing Arts team across Music, Dance, and Drama, ensuring excellent teaching and learning across all phases of the school.
• Curriculum Development: Strengthen and develop the Music curriculum, focusing on GCSE and Sixth Form offerings, while promoting the broader Performing Arts curriculum across the school.
• Extra-curricular Engagement: Enhance extra-curricular activities and performance opportunities, enriching student experiences in Music, Dance, and Drama.
• Juilliard Programme: Participate in the Juilliard Creative Classroom Programme (Years 1-9), a distinctive offering with regular visits from Juilliard experts in Music, Drama, and Dance.
• Team Development: Support and develop the Performing Arts staff, providing them with the training and motivation to achieve their goals and support the wider vision of the school.
• Student Engagement: Instill a love for the Performing Arts among students, helping them develop their skills and creativity through various activities and performances.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Secondary, Director of Admissions & Marketing, and Executive Principal to shape the school’s strategic direction and contribute to its continuous improvement.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will have a strong passion for the Performing Arts, demonstrated through your own teaching or performance experiences. You will be an outstanding teacher with a proven record in Music and the Performing Arts. With at least 5 years of leadership experience in a Secondary school, you will be fully up-to-date with curriculum developments, particularly in GCSE and A-Level Music. Familiarity with the IB Diploma Programme is desirable.

You will be able to inspire, motivate, and lead your team with a sense of integrity, energy, and enthusiasm. Your leadership will foster a positive and collaborative culture among your team members, students, and the wider school community. You will have strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities, and an approach that values cultural sensitivity and inclusivity.

Qualifications:

• A university degree and teaching qualification
• At least 5 years of teaching experience within the British curriculum
• A proven record of successful middle leadership
• A passion for Performing Arts, demonstrated through your teaching or performance experience

• Evidence of further professional development
• Previous international experience
