Principal Subsea Engineer
Responsibilities
- Subsea Engineering Design & Analysis
- Lead design and installation engineering/analysis for subsea and offshore projects.
- Provide specialist skills in design codes related to subsea engineering and installation.
- Conduct conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses according to design codes and client specifications.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and nonstandard situations in subsea operations.
- Support tendering activities, including document review, bid evaluation, and vendor selection.
- Project Leadership & Coordination
- Manage and coordinate subsea engineering activities with minimal supervision.
- Lead small or medium-sized engineering teams when acting as Lead Engineer.
- Oversee all aspects of Discipline execution for assigned projects, including scope, schedule, and deliverables.
- Act as the project representative for the discipline in meetings with clients, certifying bodies, and third parties.
- Installation Analysis & Reporting
- Perform installation analysis for rigid pipelines, flexible flowlines, risers, umbilicals, and subsea structures.
- Prepare installation analysis models using industry-standard packages.
- Provide technical direction to ensure design verification and compliance with project specifications.
- Prepare and approve engineering design reports and technical documentation.
- Technical Mentorship & Development
- Train and mentor junior engineers and graduates, providing guidance on technical procedures and design standards.
- Participate in the development of departmental technical guidelines, standards, and software.
- Assist with technical audits, design reviews, and customer interactions to resolve technical issues.
Required Qualifications
- Educational Background
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Familiarity with relevant standards, codes, and guidelines for subsea engineering and installation.
- Experience & Expertise
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in subsea engineering and installation.
- At least 4 years as a Lead Subsea Engineer in EPC projects.
- Experience with software like Orcaflex, MCS Pipelay, Abaqus, SACS, and FS2000.
- Hands-on experience in installation, lifting, and in-place analysis for subsea structures.
- Skills & Attributes
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage teams and client relations.
