Required jobs in Qatar Museums and their details:

1. Curator of North Africa and Middle East

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Work with the Museum Collection, artists, partners, and colleagues to research and develop highly inventive and relevant exhibitions and programs.
  • Initiate, organize and author programs from initial idea to completion, including Collection and special exhibitions, commissions and productions, publications, talks, screenings, broadcast material, digital or online work and investigations of displays and archives.
  • Responsible for development and delivery of exhibitions and programs, scheduling, and logistics in coordination with other staff; oversee a timely delivery of exhibitions.
  • Provide content for departmental projects related to exhibitions and events, overseeing proper reproduction of images and copyrights. Keep an updated account of all exhibition and artistic program plans.
  • Work with colleagues in the Collections, Exhibitions, Education, and Research departments to share curatorial content and updates.
  • Develop, coordinate, edit and oversee writing for exhibition and publication related materials (hard copies and digital).
  • Preparation and delivery of high-quality presentations to various audiences (e.g. lectures, gallery talks for sponsors, patrons, visitors)
  • Responsible for interpretation; support translation and editing of interpretive materials (Arabic/English).

2. IT Security Specialist

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Establish and maintain Information Security Management System, IT Governance, Risk and Compliance Framework in line with industry-best practices, frameworks and regulatory requirements such as MICT: Qatar’s National Information Assurance Policy (NIAP), COBIT and ISO/IEC27001:2013 standards.
  • Development and maintenance of Information Security Policies, Procedures and implementation plan.
  • Ensure that Information Security Policies, Procedures and implementation plan are implemented within ITD and other BU\SU.
  • Development and implementation of Incident and Change Management.
  • Handling Information Security Incidents, taking corrective and preventive actions and root cause analysis report submission.
  • Development of IT Risk Management Framework
  • Risk Assessments, Risk Identification, Treatment, Mitigation, Reporting, Residual Risk Acceptance and recommendation for corrective action.
  • Ensure Information Security compliance and practices are considered in projects, initiatives and new implementations.
  • Collaborate with other departments such Internal Audit, Legal, Admin, Finance HC to direct compliance issues and resolutions
  • IT Audits co-ordination (Compliance with Enterprise Internal/External Audits and Regulatory requirement).
  • Formalized Information Security awareness programmes such as Information Security awareness mailer, awareness Banners and awareness Session
  • Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR)
  • IT Procurement, Vendor Management and Project Management

3. Network Engineer

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Administration and Managing Daily Network Security  Operations and Projects 
  • Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
  • Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards ensuring a reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes
  • Installs hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices including routers, Wi-Fi controllers and firewalls
  • Ensures network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances
  • Research products, recommends software and hardware and points out security glitches
  • Ensures that all IT equipment complies with industry standards
  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization
  • Identifies, diagnoses and resolves network problems as needed swiftly and efficiently

4. Painting Conservator

Key Accountabilities:

  • Performs a broad range of conservation treatments on the paintings collection, ensuring their physical safety and stability, while retaining historical and artistic context.
  • Provides detailed records of the works carried out, examines, analyses, research, notates, photographs, and explains all findings in reports.
  • Asses and condition check the paintings collection.
  • Provides knowledgeable expertise on the caring, handling, and addressing condition issues of paintings collections for acquisition, loan, exhibit, transport, and storage. Performs condition assessments of individual collections, surveys groups of collections and requests for loan.
  • Ensures good knowledge of monitoring and controlling the environment in which collections are stored or displayed to prevent deterioration and applies preventive conservation principles and care of collections with interest on paintings.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to the exhibition team, to recommend specific display parameters for materials and frame requirements.
  • Ensures adherence to policies and procedures, engages in review, interpretation, and development of conservation-related policies, methods, procedures, and services; works with others to update plans and implement recommendations for preservation strategies.
  • Assists with day to day running of the Conservation laboratory.
  • Works collaboratively and liaises with the staff across Lusail Museum to meet overall goal.
  • Communicates the conservation activities with his/ her colleagues and interest groups and publishes findings exploring artist methods and degradation processes.
  • Advocates for conservation practices and policies across Qatar Museums
  • Participates in packing and transport of collection items, and accompanying objects in transit to other locations, if required.

5. Photography Conservator
