Available Vacancies At Aspetar Hospital and their details:

1. Sports Cardiologist - Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Plan, develop and implement strategies and programs for the development of Sports Cardiology specialties/ sub- specialties and services. Plan and implement systems and cardiology screening programs for athlete safety and cultivate an ethos for practice of the highest professional and ethical standards. Perform patients in pre-surgical assessment, wards and outpatient clinics as required.

Key Result Areas:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the hospital`s Cardiology and Sports Cardiology services and professional development including research in collaboration with the Head of Sports Cardiology and Screening.
  • Develop and establish the clinical development plans, goals and objectives of the cardiology disciplines within the hospital.
  • Work with nominated World Experts in Cardiology and the Coordinator of Athlete Screening to ensure a world class cardiovascular screening program. 
  • Perform and integrate multi-level specialized cardiac tests and screening for athletes within the Athlete Screening Centre. 
  • Develop and provide education initiatives aimed at improving the cardiac and overall health of patients/athletes.
  • Provide specialist care to inpatients referred to him/her with cardiovascular issues.
  • Support the Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Sports Medicine to define the clinical quality management framework and standards of clinical care governing the practice of sports and clinical cardiology medicine and patient/athlete care in the Centre.
  • Development and implementation of cardiology education programs within the hospital and the Clubs/Federations.
  • Act as a primary resource to the Centre’s Resident Medical Officers and Internists in the care of patients with cardiovascular concerns.
  • Provide Cardiology Specialist care at outpatient clinic. 
  • Work in conjunction with the anesthetists to evaluate patients in the Preadmission Clinic. 
  • Involvement in the education/strategy development for the emergency management of athletes.
  • Provide clinical leadership and direction for the sports cardiology medicine services and professional development. 
  • Provide guidance and direct input into the development plans and performance management of direct reports to meet the organizational mission and objectives.
  • Assume or accept any other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor within the position role and responsibility.

2. Scientific Researcher

Supports the Research agenda of Aspetar by contributing to the establishment of world-class research projects within and ensuring the highest level of support to the stakeholders engaged in the projects and programme. 
The main purpose of this role is to contribute to establish the hospital internationally as a centre of excellence by conducting and publishing high-quality research. Will integrally contribute to the protection of health and performance of both local and international athletes/teams that will be engaged in the research projects. Might have the opportunity to supervise PhD candidates/junior researchers but will also be expected to serve as the principal investigator for independent research projects. 
Will work closely with researchers within the research and scientific support department and across other departments and the National Sports Medicine Programme (NSMP). He/she will be under supervision of the Head of Research to ensure all research tasks are completed professionally and efficiently.

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Fulfil all administrative and organisational duties related to the organization of research projects acting as a principal investigator or co-investigator including defining the study design, preparing and administering research ethics applications, participant recruitment, data collection and analysis and write up.
  • Ensure assessment, inclusion, adherence to research regulatory frameworks and follow-up of the recruited subjects/athletes.
  • Prepares articles for international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepares research reports/documents as requested by the department director and/or head of research.
  • Contributes and/or leads the submission of research grants.
  • Participate in the continuous scientific education of the hospital by attending lectures, giving presentations and/or contributing to the development of other materials (interviews, clinical guidelines, downloadable programmes, etc.).
  • Presents at national and international conferences as appropriate.

3. Senior Registered Nurse - (MSK Clinic - SLA) Bilingual

Operate as a member of the OPD team providing support and guidance to patients and staff alike and assisting with procedures in compliance with hospital standards and protocols.  

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Utilize the nursing process in the coordination, planning and assessment of patient care.
  • Prepare and maintain the OPD clinics on a day to day basis to provide optimum patient care.
  • Manage allocated nursing resources to ensure equity of workload and match clinical complexity with nursing competency.
  • Co-ordinate allocated workload on a day to day basis to ensure effective and efficient clinical care delivery.
  • Deliver patient care and interventions that meet the OPD clinic standards and in accordance with Aspetar policy, procedures and code of conduct that effect nursing practice.

4. Medical Technologist

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations in the Microbiology laboratory.
  • Performs a variety of microbiological procedures to cultivate, isolate, enumerate and identify microorganisms in clinical specimens.
  • Conducts routine and specialized microbiological procedures, including bacteriological, mycological, and parasitological.
  • Perform tests on body fluids such as blood, urine, synovial fluid etc...
  • Ability to perform the sensitivity and resistance of specific pathogens to a wide range of antimicrobial agents.
  • Records, analyze and interpret microbiological results.
  • Performs and documents daily, weekly, and monthly Quality Control.

5. Senior Physiotherapist

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Act independently to plan, implement, evaluate, treat and progress patient care to maximise rehabilitation potential efficiently and independently.
  • Participate in physiotherapy in-service and as requested lead team in-service training proficiently.
  • Produce and present projects to promote service development and / or personal development. Develop knowledge, skills and evaluation processes inpatient groups.
  • Develop an area of specialization in sports physiotherapy with involvement in teaching and mentorship in this field.
  • Responsible for management and development of Physiotherapists as requested. Demonstrates leadership at staff professional development activities (case reviews, workshops, courses and in-services).

6. NSMP Club and Federation Doctor

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Provide primary care to registered athletes in sports clubs/federations assigned to “Club/Federation Doctor” in adherence to Aspetar approved clinical practice guidelines. This includes the evaluation, treatment plan and follow up as appropriate.
  • Maintain optimal health and maximize peak performance of athletes.
  • Assist athletes of any age, professional or amateur, in any sport. 
  • Diagnose, provide treatment and prevent injuries that occur during sports and physical activities as a medical physician.
  • Provide both long-term and immediate supervision for the physical restoration of individuals.
  • Ensure that the necessary athletes’ dietary patterns are supported to maximize performance, prevent disease and improve health.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure effective communication and delivery of care.
  • Maintain patient/athlete documentation, records and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided and meet professional standards and to ensure the service is monitored and evaluated.
  • Communicate and make recommendations to all relevant disciplines of staff to maximise athlete care and promote multidisciplinary team working.
  • Communicate and formulate recommendations to the nominated club officials and technical staff regarding athletes’ physical and health condition, progress, prognosis and participation abilities to sports activities.
  • Contribute to and ensure the Implementation of ASPETAR approved clinical practice guidelines within the clinic to optimise athletes’ care.
  • Be responsible for maintaining a high standard of clinical practice both for self and staff under their supervision.
  • Responsible for providing medical coverage for national or international sporting events in the assigned club or federation.
  • Participate in and assign clinic medical staff for event coverage as required.
  • Adhere to and actively promote the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) principles and regulations regarding the use of drugs in sport. Comply with the spirit and letter of the WADA Code and the ASPETAR/NSMP Anti-Doping Position Statement.

7. Physiotherapist

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Act independently to assess, analyse and provide a clinical diagnosis for individual patients to determine their need for physiotherapy intervention.
  • Act independently to plan, implement, evaluate, treat and progress patient care to maximise rehabilitation potential.
  • Advance treatment progression of patients independently. Independently manage a caseload of athletes and non-athletes effectively and efficiently.
  • Contribute to evidence-based practice in the department skilfully and provide significant input into development of assessment and treatment protocols.
  • Take decisions regarding discharge planning of patients independently or with Senior Physiotherapist as deemed appropriate.
  • Assist Senior Physiotherapist with staff continuing education. Provide in-service briefing following the attendance at a course or conference.
  • Assist with in-service training of Physiotherapy staff. Demonstrates active participation at staff professional development activities (case reviews, workshops, courses and in-services).
  • Utilization of research skills and participation in research projects at a basic level.
  • Maintain a proficient standard of ethical and professional behaviour when treating and dealing with athletes / patients.
  • Participate in the departmental personal development and performance review system to promote personal and service developments.
  • Participate in clinical audit to support the physiotherapy service clinical governance strategy.
  • Liaise with Lead Clinical and Senior Physiotherapists to gain support and direction in management of their caseload.

  • Minimum experience of 6-8 years in which 2-3 years should be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry. 
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to manage orthopaedic and sports physiotherapy caseloads independently and proficiently.
  • Sports physiotherapy background is required

8. Physiotherapy Assistant

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

  • Demonstrate capability in Physiotherapy Assistant skills. Follow instructions of the Physiotherapist to treat patients following a designated treatment plan utilising basic physiotherapy technique such as assisting a patient to walk with an appropriate aid as required.
  • Assist the Physiotherapist with individual and group treatments/exercise. Able to recognise change in the condition of a patient with guidance from Physiotherapists and to watch the patient response to any treatment undertaken.
  • Monitor the reaction of patients to specific physiotherapy techniques undertaken.
  • Manage clinical risk within own caseload including observing patients in all situations applicable to physiotherapy, ensuring safety and security constantly.
  • Comply continuously with the requirements of the Health and Safety Regulations and to take responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of others in the working environment.
  • Demonstrate physical ability to carry out physiotherapy interventions including therapeutic handling and exercise programs. Demonstrate dexterity and co-ordination for physiotherapy treatment of patients.

  • Attend mandatory annual training (Fire, Manual Handling and Adult Basic Life Support).

  • Prepare and clean equipment used in treatment as required. Maintain stocks of walking aids and consumables in the department and on the wards.
  • Responsible for non-clinical induction of assistants and students as required.
  • Responsible for maintenance of accurate written records using Cerner charting as required. Demonstrate the ability to motivate and persuade patients through effective communication skills.
  • Responsible to report to the Physiotherapist or senior Physiotherapist in the clinical area of placement daily.
  • Liaise with other physiotherapists or health professionals as necessary regarding patient care. Liaise with managers, other administrative and support staff as necessary to ensure the smooth running of the department.
