Required jobs in Qatar Museums and their details:
1. Curator
The Curator provides expertise on the Museum’s collections, proposes and implements acquisitions corresponding to the strategy (including acquisitions related to Asia but not exclusively), curates exhibitions and manages publications. The Curator participates in the different activities of prefiguration of the museum.
Roles & responsibilities:
- Conceptualizes and executes all aspects of project development and implementation at the highest professional standards, including research, writing, presentations, budgeting, and coordination with project stakeholders.
- Participates in the conception and implementation of the museum architectural programming and museography.
- Makes acquisition recommendations based on research for objects or collections of interest to Art Mill Museum.
- Provides documentation for the collection.
- Participates in panels, discussions, conferences.
- Develops ideas and resources for public program and education.
- Writes essays for exhibition catalogues, scholarly articles for internal and external publications.
- Attends conferences and networks with external museums and curators.
- Represents the museum in all activities in public domain in line with museum vision and mission.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- MA in History of Art, Museum or Curatorial Studies.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
- Excellent language skills in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills and Microsoft Office.
- Proof of independent research, publications and articles with respected journals and institutions.
- Proof of academic papers presented at international conferences.
- Proof of exhibition development and delivery as sole curator

2. Curator for Ottoman Lands
The Curator for Ottoman Lands will be expected to research, catalogue, and publish the MIA Collections from Turkey and the Ottoman Empire, and contribute to display and exhibition development, according to the latest scientific research and international museum practice.
Roles & responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day documentation and research of the collection
- Responsible for all curatorial matters relating to the Ottoman world.
- Contribute to (temporary and permanent) display and exhibition development.
- Handle public queries, Educational and Communication Division requests, and scholarly requests.
- Must be able to work within a team, be flexible and self-motivated. Liaise with museum conservators, registrars and other colleagues on a regular basis.
- Other activities as requested by the Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- PhD in Islamic art history or archaeology
- 3 - 5 years as Curator of relevant field
- Familiarity with object handling
- Documentation and database experience
- A good network of specialised contacts
- Experience of living in Middle East
- Fluent English
- Proficiency in Turkish (if possible modern & Ottoman Turkish) and / or Arabic & Persian.
- Proficiency in additional European and Asian research languages
- A high level of subject-specific expertise.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong research abilities and excellent organization
- Publications and lecturing experience
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Professional manner and friendly attitude
