Etqan Global Academy is recruiting a PYP Teacher (Maternity Cover) in Doha, Qatar. Cover an established IB Primary Years Programme class during a defined maternity-leave period at Etqan Global Academy.

Job Description

The teacher will enter an existing programme promptly, maintain its learning routines and ensure pupils remain supported until the end of cover.

This temporary teaching appointment maintains the continuity of an existing PYP class while its regular teacher is absent. The teacher follows ongoing inquiry units, coordinates with specialist colleagues and contributes to assessment records and end-of-term reporting.

Etqan delivers IB PYP education; this cover appointment follows an established class programme until the published end date.

Key Responsibilities

• Continue the current programme of inquiry and already-started teaching units
• Plan engaging inquiry-based PYP lessons
• Work with colleagues, subject specialists and the PYP coordinator
• Assess, document and report student progress including end-of-term contributions
• Communicate with parents and maintain supportive pupil relationships
• Create a stimulating, inclusive and secure classroom
• Join the wider school community throughout the cover appointment

Requirements & Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and a recognised teaching qualification, such as PGCE, PGDE or QTS
• Previous practical IB PYP teaching experience
• Strong inquiry-led lessons and classroom management
• Ability to settle rapidly into an established team
• Fluent English and collaborative communication
• Safeguarding awareness and availability to start without delay

Preferred Qualifications

• Applicants already in Qatar with current work permission are preferred
