Job Overview

Oryx University is seeking a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Computer Science within its College of Computing and Data Science in Doha. The appointment combines undergraduate computing education, student mentoring, academic programme enhancement and scholarship in programmes delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU).

Job Description

The postholder delivers and assesses computing modules, maintains up-to-date teaching materials and supports student projects. Responsibilities also cover curriculum development, quality assurance under LJMU academic frameworks, research activity, industry engagement, committee participation and continuing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach and assess undergraduate modules in computer science, software engineering and related subjects.
• Develop and update teaching resources in line with academic and industry advances.
• Participate in programme design, validation and enhancement.
• Prepare and moderate assessments under LJMU regulations and assessment frameworks.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects and mentor students.
• Undertake research and scholarly activity in line with university priorities.
• Work with industry partners and advisory boards to improve programme relevance.
• Contribute to CPD opportunities and short courses.
• Participate in academic committees, team meetings and quality initiatives.

Requirements and Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated university-level teaching and research experience.
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
• Commitment to high-quality teaching, learning and student success.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Strong organisation, planning, interpersonal skills and academic integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

• A record of peer-reviewed research publications.
• Curriculum design, module leadership and quality-assurance experience.
• Supervision of undergraduate or postgraduate research projects.
• Involvement in consultancy, innovation or applied industry projects.
• Experience with programme development or accreditation.
