Etqan Global Academy is recruiting a MYP English Teacher in Doha, Qatar. Teach English Language and Literature through the IB Middle Years Programme at Etqan Global Academy, developing analytical reading, communication and writing.
Job Description
The position combines MYP concept-led lesson planning, structured assessment, student wellbeing and the school English department.
This role links concept-based English literature teaching with the MYP assessment framework, including preparation for eAssessment. The teacher also undertakes form-tutor responsibilities and contributes to the pastoral and departmental life of the academy.
Etqan Global Academy is an IB World School in Doha; this role specifically works with the inquiry-based Middle Years Programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan inquiry-led Language and Literature units matched to MYP global contexts
- Develop learners’ reading, writing, critical reasoning and confident expression
- Assess assignments with MYP criteria and deliver actionable feedback
- Connect literary texts with cultures, language and international perspectives
- Embed approaches-to-learning competencies in everyday lessons
- Prepare students for the MYP eAssessment process
- Contribute as form tutor and to pastoral care and the English faculty
Requirements & Qualifications
- A related English or Language and Literature degree and recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, PGCE or B.Ed
- Proven teaching experience in the IB Middle Years Programme
- Strong understanding of MYP assessment and eAssessment
- Differentiated inquiry teaching, classroom leadership and communication skills
- A commitment to child safeguarding
Preferred Qualifications
- IB MYP Language and Literature workshop training
- International-school teaching experience
