Overview: The Psychiatry Specialist works within a collaborative team environment and reports to the Consultant Psychiatry, Section Head, or Department Chair. Under the guidance of the Consultant, the Specialist provides clinical services and supports the Consultant’s duties. This role includes patient management, with a focus on substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. Research is a vital component of our aim to establish an Academic Health System, enhancing the quality of patient care through integrated clinical, research, and educational strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, monitor, and maintain high-quality clinical services to optimize patient care.
- Provide psychiatric care in assigned clinics and present new cases to the Consultant when necessary.
- Conduct daily rounds for inpatients, evaluate patient care activities, and address management concerns.
- Write and approve medical records and reports for patients.
- Engage in practical training, academic responsibilities, and scientific research.
- Supervise subordinates in the assigned department and perform other duties as directed by the Consultant.
- Ensure patient rights and responsibilities are communicated effectively.
- Conduct assessments and develop comprehensive management plans based on patient needs.
- Provide on-call services and prescribe medications in alignment with guidelines.
Research, Education, and Professional Development:
- Participate in health education programs and adhere to Naufar policies.
- Ensure training compliance for self and investigation team members.
- Engage in continuous professional development through conferences and seminars.
- Assist in clinical research and promote knowledge among multidisciplinary teams.
Professional/Academic Qualifications:
- Valid qualifications from recognized health specialization boards (e.g., Arab Board, American Board of Medical Specialties).
- Current primary license from the country of origin and eligibility for Psychiatry licensing in Qatar.
- Up-to-date CPD in relevant areas.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 1-year experience in psychiatry/substance abuse for specialists with List A Education.
- Minimum of 3 years of specialist experience for those with List B Education.
- Equivalent experience may be considered after review by Qatar’s licensing authority.

البحث والتعليم والتطوير المهني:
- المشاركة في برامج التثقيف الصحي والالتزام بسياسات نوفار.
- التأكد من الالتزام بالتدريب لنفسك وأعضاء فريق التحقيق.
- المشاركة في التنمية المهنية المستمرة من خلال المؤتمرات والندوات.
- المساعدة في البحث السريري وتعزيز المعرفة بين الفرق متعددة التخصصات.
المؤهلات الأكاديمية/المهنية:
- مؤهلات صالحة من هيئات التخصص الصحية المعترف بها (مثل المجلس العربي، المجلس الأمريكي للتخصصات الطبية).
- رخصة سارية من بلد المنشأ واهلية للحصول على ترخيص في الطب النفسي في قطر.
- تحديث التطوير المهني المستمر في المجالات ذات الصلة.
متطلبات الخبرة:
- خبرة لا تقل عن سنة واحدة في الطب النفسي/إدمان المواد لأخصائيي التعليم في القائمة A.
- خبرة متخصصة لا تقل عن 3 سنوات لأولئك الذين لديهم تعليم في القائمة B.

This role requires a comprehensive approach to patient care, where the Consultant accepts ultimate responsibility for all patients under their supervision. The Consultant is skilled in providing high-quality patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and patient management. Additionally, they contribute to the teaching and training of students and junior doctors while advancing their specialty through leadership, academia, and research. Research is integral to Naufar's strategy to establish an Academic Health System, focusing on improving the quality of patient care through a collaborative clinical, research, education, and training framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain clinical services to ensure optimal patient care.
- Assess patient needs through interviews, observations, and diagnostic testing to develop comprehensive management plans.

Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year as a Consultant for those with western qualifications and subspecialty fellowships; 2 years of Associate Consultant experience for those without.
