Head of General Ledger

🎯 Role Summary
The Head of General Ledger will lead the general ledger function, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and compliant with accounting standards, including IFRS. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of financial statements and supporting audit processes. The incumbent will implement and monitor internal controls within the general ledger function, proactively identify and mitigate financial risks, safeguard organizational assets, and ensure regulatory compliance.

🧾 Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate period-end closing of accounting books.

  • Prepare periodic accrual reports.

  • Review financial statements prepared for external audits.

  • Review, discuss, and approve (or seek approval) on periodic general ledger account reconciliations and schedules.

  • Coordinate with OFD on reconciliation of intercompany balances.

  • Manage cost center master data, including coordination and approval for creation or changes in SAP.

  • Manage Chart of Accounts (CoA), reviewing requests for creation, blocking, or extension to new companies in SAP.

  • Support internal and external audit processes and provide responses related to financial statements.

Role Overview

Al Jazeera Media Network is seeking a Senior Producer to join their award-winning documentaries team. The Senior Producer will lead a team through all production stages, coordinate with global commissioning bodies, and spearhead filmmaking for key editorial stories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, film, and edit major stories and episodes.

  • Assign tasks to team members for various stories and develop creative solutions for daily challenges.

  • Develop long-term plans for annual series and programs.

  • Propose new ideas and perspectives for story coverage.

  • Analyze and evaluate program concepts, incorporating team feedback in written evaluations.

  • Review and approve production solutions.

  • Oversee the production process by coordinating with field teams during filming and editing stages, providing guidance and resolving issues.

  • Manage team contributions during production, including reviewing multiple rough cuts and suggesting editorial and artistic adjustments.

  • Coordinate logistics with Al Jazeera Network throughout all production stages.

  • Collaborate with different program sections at AJN for adaptation or revision.

  • Authorize final acceptance of episodes.
