The Group Director of Schools (GDS) provides overarching strategic leadership for all ACES-managed schools regionally and internationally. The GDS ensures that all schools deliver high-quality education consistent with ACES’ vision and values. The role focuses on academic excellence, curriculum coherence, leadership development, and the expansion of ACES’ global educational footprint, coordinating closely with corporate services for integrated organisational delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Vision and Leadership:
- Define and implement ACES’ academic vision across all schools and regions.
- Lead strategic planning for educational expansion, accreditation, and new school acquisitions.
- Oversee alignment of educational philosophy, curriculum, and pedagogy across the ACES network.
- Represent ACES at international education forums, accreditation panels, and partner networks.
- Governance and Accountability:
- Establish group-wide academic governance frameworks, performance scorecards, and evaluation systems.
- Set academic KPIs for Regional Directors and Principals and ensure accountability through periodic reviews.
- Oversee inspection readiness, compliance, and audit processes for all schools globally.
- Report academic performance trends and strategic priorities to the Managing Director and Board of Governors.
- Talent Development and Leadership Capacity:
- Develop leadership pipelines across the organisation, including succession planning for senior academic roles.
- Design and lead group-wide CPD, mentoring, and executive coaching programmes.

- Collaboration and Integration:

- Benchmark academic practices against leading international schools and accreditation standards.
- Drive innovation through digital learning, inclusion frameworks, and sustainable education practices.
- Representation and Advocacy
- Represent ACES at ministerial, accreditation, and professional bodies.
- Serve as the academic spokesperson for the group, articulating ACES’ educational mission globally.
- Safeguarding and Compliance:
- Ensure consistent safeguarding, inclusion, and wellbeing standards across all ACES schools.
