1. Process Support Engineer

Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations through process optimization and process improvement efforts throughout Q-Chem facilities. Identify and develop process improvement opportunities to bring value to QChem operations and facilities. Drive process optimization initiatives in order to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Accountabilities

  • Process Support Engineering
  • Investigate and resolve issues that arise in the production process and utilize analytical skills to identify root causes and propose practical corrective actions. Implement solutions to prevent recurring problems and improve overall process reliability.

  • Offer practical and effective solutions for plant upsets and operational challenges. Propose changes to operating procedures and instructions, as well as operational adjustments, to enhance efficiency and address issues. Review and update necessary documents such as alarm index, narrative control, Emergency Shutdown Procedures, Pressure Relief Valve forms, plant PID drawings, Control Valve data sheets, and other process-related materials. Conduct comprehensive plant walkthroughs to identify abnormal conditions and suggest improvements to the Lead Process Support Engineer.
  • Develop comprehensive process designs for engineering packages and actively oversee their implementation. Coordinate closely with Operations Specialists to ensure the successful execution of necessary plant changes, overseeing the entire process from initial investigation to design, construction, and start-up.
  • Participate in the PHA and MOC process by providing technical inputs and evaluating recommendations to ensure operational feasibility and compliance to safety standards.
  • Provide inputs to the project framing document with supporting mark-up documents to plant modifications and improvements (TWR Process). Develop scope of work and package for plant modifications during normal operations and Turnarounds, including feasibility analysis.
  • Specialty and experience in simulator Modelling for Process Unit operations troubleshooting is required.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members to build a skilled and capable workforce. Share expertise and knowledge to support the professional development of team members. Contribute to developing training materials and facilitate knowledge transfer within the organization.
  • Provide support for equipment inspections and associated process engineering recommendations.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality, health, safety, security and environmental procedures and controls across the Department to guarantee employee safety and delivery of high-quality services.
  • Lead engineering efforts to reduce environmental impact and eliminate Process Safety and Personal Safety Events through engineering solutions.
  • Reporting

Develop, Lead and Implement Reliability improvement initiatives, Strategies and Roadmaps to improve Reliability of Instrument and Electrical (I&E) assets of plants utilizing acquired knowledge, experience & effective decision making. Responsible for identifying and managing risks that could adversely affect plant assets or business operations through fault elimination, risk management, life cycle management and performance monitoring and improvement. As lead of the group, provide Technical and Administrative support to I&E Reliability Engineers and Technicians of I&E Reliability Group.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • People Management
  • Act as technical authority and provide high level technical support and guidance to the team in conducting the business in an effective manner.
  • Supervise the activities and work performed by direct reports to ensure that these are carried out in an efficient and effective manner, in line with the annual business plans, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Recommend training and development interventions for team members to build their capabilities.
  • Instrument & Electrical Asset Integrity Management  
  • Lead Technical department efforts to ensure integrity and reliability of all I&E assets of the company. This includes but not limited to development of reliability improvements engineering solutions for repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant equipment operations.
  • Responsible to develop and implement comprehensive short- and long-term reliability plans based on data derived through a variety of failure and life cycle analysis techniques; as well as information gained through troubleshooting, historical records and existing performance measurement systems.
  • Lead Reliability Improvement efforts of the plant from the platform of Reliability Improvement Teams (RITs)
  • Apply proactive reliability processes (i.e., criticality ranking, bad actor focus, root cause failure analysis, reliability cantered maintenance) to ensure long term reliability.
  • Lead RCA's in the area of expertise and report outs. Compile recommendations and implementation/close-out follow-up.
  • Lead the efforts for Planning, development, documentation and institutionalization of Instrumented Protective Systems (IPS) related work processes in the company to comply with regulatory requirements mandated both by International Standards (IEC61511/ISA 84) and Company Standards RMS 5700.
  • Coordinate, mentor and guide I&E Reliability Engineers, Technicians and developees in order for them to evolve in their jobs and guarantee quality levels of the service provided.
  • Leads efforts in diagnosing complex electrical/electronic system malfunctions and prescribes repairs or changes in work practices.
  • Follow-up on recurring equipment failures, determine root causes and identify actions to prevent reoccurrence. This would include helping to build and upgrade maintenance procedures and auditing to ensure improvements are sustained.
