1. Supervisor - Tapping

To ensure that Metal and Bath Tapping is done in an efficient and effective manner by ensuring that there is a smooth metal flow from Potline to Casthouse and Bath tapped from pots according to the defined process requirements.

Job Description:

  • Monitor metal tapping ensuring that quality, deliveries and precision (kg) meet stated specifications and delivery time.
  • Monitor metal fluxing as per Casthouse requirement. Focus on quality of metal tapping by minimizing bath tapped with metal which can cause damages to the RAM rotors.
  • Ensure metal sampling is done according to APICS schedule plan
  • Ensure that  MTVs, BTV’S,and Bath Tapping forklifts as well as other equipment, tools are in an operable condition.
  • Ensure that the above equipment is used in a safe and efficient manner
  • Manage and control the weekly and daily tapping operations in the potlines so as to ensure agreed quality and cost parameter targets are met.
  • Ensure effective handovers from shift to shift and that operational problems are addressed in an effective and timely manner 
  • Monitor and control consumable consumption in a cost efficient manner.
  • Manpower planning taking into consideration planned and unplanned leave and training
  • Ensure the team has a customer oriented focus on quality and customer service and sustains an extremely high level of delivery performance and zero damages attitude in order to provide best possible service to customers
  • Communicate and agree on customer / supplier needs with all relevant interface parties in order to support the Casthouse / Potlines 

Requirements:

2. Electrical Technician

To perform all activities related to electrical maintenance in Carbon Plant in order to ensure equipment availability and performance.

Job Description:

  • Perform Maintenance duties as required to contribute towards ensuring that the shift and daily production targets are met.
  • Carry out routine and preventive electrical maintenance including pre and post equipment inspections in order to ensure continued equipment availability and performance.
  • Write and review SOPs when required and participate in SOP and process audits to ensure continued validity and relevance.
  • Coordinate work schedules and activities with Maintenance Supervisors and Planners ensuring that all works are included in the schedule and are adequately manned.
  • Support the development and training of National employees.

3. Mechanical Technician

To perform all activities related to maintenance in Carbon areas in order to ensure equipment availability and performance.

Job Description:

  • During forced outages assist where needed in order to ensure the highest plant availability and earliest return to service.
  • Carry out inspections and routine plant running checks in order to prevent malfunction and maximize performance and efficiency of equipment.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on equipment in the Carbon Plant in order to restore it to working order as quickly as possible.
  • Assist in conduction Root Cause Analysis by interrogating the data in order to determine underlying reasons for faults.
  • Update data and maintain histories within the CMMS to ensure that latest valid information in available.
  • Provide input and recommend the continuous improvement of the company practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.

4. HVAC Supervisor

To be accountable for the Maintenance and operation HVAC Systems & Equipments, HVAC Workshop repair activities within Qatalum in the Central Maintenance organization

Job Description:

  • Prepare, plan, schedule, execute and follow-up of HVAC Maintenance and workshop activities in coordination with the production/maintenance units on daily basis.
  • Handle work orders SAP PM according to defined work processes.
  • Responsible for work order execution using internal/external services.
  • Repair of machines/equipment
  • Ensure skilled personnel by developing/follow-up of training plan for the assigned section.
  • Supervise the day-to-day maintenance and operations of HVAC equipments in assigned organizational unit across Qatalum and comply with established standards and procedures to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and that employees are motivated, understand what is expected of them, and perform according to the designated standards.

5. Head of Contracts

To identify contractual requirements and opportunities, thereafter develop and execute strategies for tender and contract award, in accordance with the company’s long term business goals and company business plan. To administer live contracts in support of various contract holders which will include routine communication with contractor and customer, dispute resolution, which may include liaising with internal and external lawyers, claims and contract closures.

Job Description:

  • Plan, direct, coordinate and manage the performance monitoring of vendors, contractors, suppliers and consultants in providing contractual services and keep internal client user department apprised of contract execution schedules.
  • Lead and coordinate post agreement/contracts award shutdown activities, and provide 24 hr on call eligibility during major shutdowns.
  • Responsible for the management and administration of all company contracts for all customers, vendors of the company.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholder and contract holders to fully understand their contracting needs and aspiration, to help them better understand the contracting process and offer support when preparing procurement strategies.
  • Liaise with dedicated team of end users for assessing requirement, providing continuous support and advice on contractual manner.

6. Startup Operator

To assist foreman in carrying out various start-up activities (pot preparation, start-up and early life) to sustain an efficient and safe activity of start-up activities. The areas of responsibility include bath generation, Anode covering with ACM, metal addition for newly started pots, fixing cooling lances ,raw material addition ,flexible & stem voltage drop correction, replacing the reinforce start-up hoods, ensure readiness of  crushed bath, preheat monitoring (48 hours)

Job Description:

  • During the start-up phase of the pot line, the main responsibilities will include monitoring and maintaining the started-up pot, adding raw materials, skimming & removal of carbon dust, also to do the metal addition to the pots that has been started 48 hours ago as per Standard operating Procedure (SOPs)
  • During this phase the operator is responsible to generate bath for next day’s pot which is going to be started, this will occur by crushed bath addition to donor pots and addition of soda ash to maintain the bath chemistry on the early life phase of the pots.
  • Monitoring pot preheating and taking corrective action on flexible stem voltage drops.
  • Forklift & overhead crane operation to meet activities during pot start-up and early life of pots
  • Immediate action to be taken for any abnormality during pot preparation, preheat monitoring, start-up, and early life pots such as fallen anode, poor current distribution, low cathode temperature, shunt red hot, wedge not possible to remove, clad failure, and low bath etc.
  • Assist contractors with training needs, ensuring they have sufficient skills and knowledge to do the job in a safe and productive way. Will insure that on non-routine critical tasks, all employees conducting the tasks are aware of the tasks hazards prior to starting work.
  • Coach contractor to perform work to Qatar Aluminium’s standard work procedures and practices, obey plant and department rules and formally observe employees to insure compliance.
  • Investigate and take corrective action immediately for any abnormalities such mixture of alumina, graphitized dust and Aluminium fluoride leakage into the pot. Report all deviations to shift supervisor and also communicante to reliever.
  • Initiate SAP notifications for equipment breakdown and liaise/co-operate with Start-up coordinator f or preventive maintenance (PM) and release equipment for maintenance checks.
  • Communicate frequently with Pot room operation team for resource sharing (PTM & Service crane, bath generation, electrical isolation, forklift and bobcat etc.) 
  • Participate regularly in work teams, making a positive contribution.
  • Encourage employee awareness of health, safety and environmental protection.
  • Implementing the QBS principles of recycling materials, reducing waste of energy and other resources such as compressed air.
  • Comply with all agreed occupational health, safety and environmental regulations in order to protect personnel and physical assets. Ensures that the work areas are kept in a clean and tidy state in order that work can be carried out safely and effectively.
  • Ensure HSE leading indicator target achieve within the team.

  • Establish, implement, monitor and review the necessary operating procedures for Start-up activities of 704 cells.
