1. Legal Assistant (Bilingual)

The Legal Assistant provides essential legal support to the Legal Services Department assisting in research, documentation, contract management, and administrative tasks. The role requires attention to detail, effective communication with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Assists in conducting legal research and prepare reports, documentations, meeting minutes under the supervision of the Legal Counsel.

2. Optometrist

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for accurate and effective cyclopegic refractions and contact lens and low vision evaluations.
  • Ensures clear understanding among patients about the condition and treatment plan.
  • Works independently and in concert with ophthalmologists.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures as needed or as directed by the ophthalmologist including testing acuity, tonometry, lensometry, ocular motility assessment, pupil assessment, color vision, topography, visual field testing, pachymetry, kerotometry, objective and subjective refraction with the phorotor and/or trial lenses and sterio acuity testing.
  • Refers gathered information to the ophthalmologist for further examination, diagnosis and treatment.
  • Prescribes corrective lenses (eyeglasses or contact lenses), provides treatment and low-vision rehabilitation.
  • Administers drugs to patients to aid in the diagnosis of vision problems.
  • Performs examinations to diagnose vision problems.
  • Performs cycloplegic retinoscopy in pediatric patients.
  • Evaluates the results of a variety of diagnostic tests and decides on the best course of treatment for a patient.

The Legal Counsel is primarily responsible for providing legal advice and support Leadership in variety of areas, which may include contracts issues, HR/labor law, disputes/litigation and medico-legal matters.

5. Surgical Specialist - Otolaryngology

The Surgical Specialist - Pediatric Otolaryngology functions within the Department of Surgery to assist in the care of the patients. Care is delivered as part of an interprofessional team.  The post holder may be involved in all aspects of patient care within the ambulatory clinic, in the wards (including the intensive care units), within the Emergency Department, and in the Operating Theater. The primary duty of the Surgical Specialist - Pediatric Otolaryngology is to provide the front-line patient care of surgical patients, under the direction of the Consultant Surgeon staff within the Pediatric Otolaryngology Division. The ultimate responsibility for patient care lies with the Consultant Surgeon staff. 

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Daily responsibility is to the Consultant Surgeon for clinical duties.
  • Provides mid-level care to the surgical patients as part of a professional team.
  • Performs varied administrative responsibilities.
  • Functions independently to evaluates and treats patients with complex acute, critical and chronically ill patients, according to written guidelines as defined by the pediatric surgical specialist’s professional scope of practice and in adherence with Sidra’s agreed upon scopes of practice. 
  • Performs age-appropriate histories on new patients.
  • Performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of the normal and abnormal findings on new patients according to written guidelines as defined by the pediatric surgical specialist’s professional scope of practice and in adherence with Sidra’s agreed upon scopes of practice.
  • Obtains age-appropriate interval histories on return patients.
  • Performs pertinent examinations on return patients. 
  • Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated upon evaluation of the patient according to written guidelines as defined by the pediatric surgical specialist’s professional scope of practice and in adherence with Sidra’s agreed upon scopes of practice.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment modalities. Obtains countersignature on prescription from the supervising physician for medications not included in the approved formulary.
  • Performs designated procedures after demonstrating competency and according to written standardized procedure where applicable.
  • Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings: admissions, transfers and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork.
  • Works across all service lines by collaborating with multidisciplinary team members and making appropriate referrals.

The Staff Scientist - Assistant Level (Bioinformatics) supports research within the specific areas of research programs and performs a variety of procedures using established methods and techniques. The incumbent conducts moderately complex experiments, critically evaluates scientific literature and findings, performs experiments and interprets data.

7. Division Chief - Hematology, Oncology, BMT

Reporting to the Executive Chair - Medicine the Division Chief provides clinical, education, research and executive management leadership for the division. The Division Chief is a clinical and managerial leader working with the Sidra executive team to develop and deliver strategy and business plans and is accountable for resources and performance in the designated division. S/he integrates research and education priorities into a program of excellent clinical service delivery. It is anticipated that the Division Chief will be able to continue with personal clinical educational and research activities.

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Identifies and articulates the vision, strategic direction, and growth of the Division and develops implementation strategies to achieve them.
  • Recommends clinical privileges, appointment, reappointment and corrective action for each member of the Division as well as promoting mentorship and academic career development for these staff members.
  • Accountable for the financial performance and management of all budgets within the division.
  • Accountable for the Division performance, Customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance of the Division.
  • Leads clinical service planning, service development and capacity planning for the Division.

  • Continues surveillance of the professional performance of all individuals in the Division who have delineated clinical privileges, including performance, and ongoing and focused professional practice evaluations (OPPE and FPPE).
  • Ensures that the staff of the Division provide services that are in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements of the Joint Commission International, Qatar Supreme Council of Health, and all other applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Implements the clinical service strategies and business plan for the Division.
  • Makes recommendations for the purchase of capital and other equipment and participates in the evaluation of products for use by different members of the Division to ensure their safety and efficacy.

  • Works with the Department Chair to establish and update the work week standards for all physicians on staff and assures that there is appropriate clinical coverage for all patients requiring medical care from the Division.
  • Ensures all members of the Division optimize the use of electronic medical records.
  • Sets and achieves targets for programs and procedures for confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with hospital policy and the privacy laws of the State of Qatar.
  • In conjunction with the Department Chair, ensures the implementation of robust clinical governance structures and processes to ensure patient safety.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Research Officer and other Division heads of research, ensures a program of clinical and translational research is developed, promoted and delivered within the Division.

  • Develops, manages and supports physician and community relationships, coordinating and disseminating information to all stakeholders to solicit ongoing support from the State of Qatar.

  • Develops and maintains appropriate systems of communication between Sidra and other providers of primary and advanced patient care in Qatar for the purpose of individual patient care and systemic safety and quality improvement.

8. Supervisor - Respiratory Therapy Services

The Supervisor – Respiratory Therapy Services works closely with the Manager - Respiratory Therapy Services to oversee the quality of clinical practice provided by Respiratory Therapists to ensure adequate training of staff, appropriately allocating resources, and monitoring work. S/he provides leadership and guidance to the respiratory therapy staff and serves as a resource for the respiratory therapy department, nursing, physicians and all other hospital personnel. The incumbent provides a comprehensive range of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to patients requiring basic and advanced cardiopulmonary and related services. Under direction of a licensed physician, who has special expertise in respiratory care, the Supervisor – Respiratory Therapy Services utilizes the application of scientific principles for the identification, prevention, remediation, research, and rehabilitation of acute or chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction thereby promoting optimum health and function.

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Reviews patient’s medical history, conducts assessments of the patient’s pathophysiological condition, recommends appropriate care and documents patient response outcomes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provides cardiorespiratory related diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, assesses and documents patient response in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Sets up and performs quality control procedures and operates respiratory and laboratory equipment, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Obtains and maintains all clinical core competencies of the Respiratory Therapy Services department.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date mandatory Life Support Training requirements as directed by MoPH and Sidra (e.g. BLS, AED etc.)
  • Provides basic to advanced techniques in airway management. 
  • Initiates, monitors and assesses ventilator/technology dependent patients on an outlined basis.
  • Recommends and administers individualized medical gas therapies.
  • Ensures effective communication during handover, and end of shift report to ensure that the patient’s needs for continuity of care and level of care are met.
  • Provides emergency care as a member of Resuscitation, Rapid Response, and Transport Team as required.
  • Upholds department mandated documentation standards; does so in a timely and accurate way.
  • Implements ongoing Sidra Strategic Initiatives for the Respiratory Therapy Services program which includes but not limited to: 
  • Space allocation (i.e. storage rooms, medical gas storage)
  • Identifying and procurement of required respiratory technology and consumables.
  • Recommends, develops, and refines policies and procedures within assigned span of accountability, inclusive of cultural considerations.
  • Additional recommendations based on industry standards across Respiratory Therapy
  • Personnel Management:
  • Participates in recruiting, commissioning, on-boarding, orientation and service activation and ensures responsibilities are carried out in accordance with plans and timelines.
  • Maintains files and documents in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Develops plans and assists in new employee orientation setting up departmental resources that will educate and assure orientation competencies are met.

9. Urotherapist

The Urotherapist through his/her practice provides consultations for patients with Lower urinary tract (LUT) dysfunction and Bladder Bowel dysfunction (BBD).  Supervised by the urologist, performs procedures such as urinary catheterizations, uroflow with EMG, urodynamic studies, biofeedback sessions, Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), transcutaneous and percutaneous parasacral, urinary drainage, tube irrigations, ultrasonic bladder scanning, education of other healthcare professionals, patients, and families, and reinforcement of home-going education related to self-catheterization or urinary drainage tube irrigations. The Urotherapist is responsible for responding to calls on the patient care units, the emergency department and collaborates with outpatient clinic teams as required.

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Makes treatment decisions under the supervision of the Attending Physician essential for the management of patients with Lower urinary tract (LUT) dysfunction and Bladder Bowel dysfunction (BBD).
  • Prescribes exams and medications under the supervision of the pediatric urology medical team.
  • Provides relevant input on pre and post op patients with complex genitourinary reconstructions.

The Pediatric Allergy and Immunology is responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care; effective and efficient diagnosing, managing and treating all patients placed under the role holder’s care. The Pediatric Allergy and Immunology makes recommendations, orders appropriate therapeutics and diagnostics as per the patient’s diagnosed condition. The Physician – Allergy and Immunology is also responsible for providing guidance to less experienced colleagues.  

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care and services within specialty area.
  • Conducts Ward rounds, reassesses inpatients and/or outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice.

This position adheres to the standards set forth by the Specialist - Child Life Services I job description. In addition, this position is responsible for department leadership and completing other duties as assigned. Responsibilities include leading committees/workgroups, facilitating quality improvement projects, mentoring new employees and students, and providing educational experiences for staff.  
The Specialist - Child Life Services II, under minimal supervision, develops, coordinates and implements therapeutic, educational, and recreational child life interventions and programs for patients based on an understanding of normal growth and development and the impact that illness, injury, disability, and hospitalization have on this process. The Specialist - Child Life Services II serves as an active mentor to junior staff and students and creates and evaluates formal and informal learning opportunities.
The Specialist – Child Life Service II is responsible for ensuring that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard. This position is responsible for completing other duties as assigned.

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Child Life Services Supervisor makes decisions related to the plans of care for women/children.
  • Makes day to day decisions regarding assessment and interventions that impact patients and families and collaborating staff/colleagues.

  • Responsible for maintaining up to date mandatory Life Support Training requirements as directed by MoPH and Sidra (e.g. BLS, AED etc).
