Required jobs in QAFCO company and their details:

1. Mechanical Engineer, Rotating Equipment Design

Roles in this level are responsible for design development and services related to the rotating equipment, related packages and auxiliary systems to be integrated into existing industrial process plant in an efficient and systematic manner and according to QAFCO procedures and specifications and to the Company’s goals and objectives. As a part of project works, they have the responsibility in analyzing the problems, carrying out root cause analysis & engineering calculations to arrive at the optimum techno-economic solution, prepare tender, carry out technical evaluation, generate the deliverables of the required quality and support for execution of Project.  They compile and provide input to the periodic reports within their area of work. They assist their superiors in cost control.
The role holder must ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with QAFCO’s Health, Safety and Environment procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Plan work activities, lead and support various project teams and liaison with all the stakeholders to ensure execution of assigned project activities to meet set objectives and overcome challenges.
  • Carrying root cause analysis, complete the process data sheets with mechanical details to fully detail the equipment specification, perform engineering calculations using software, as per codes and standards.
  • Prepare datasheets, specifications and requests for quotation.
  • Review and evaluate supplier proposals and prepare bid tabulations.
  • Select, size, and determine costs to meet process design and mechanical performance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain/update Specifications/standards on engineering practice within the trades, including incorporation of lessons learnt.
  • In depth knowledge and hand on experience about the over hauling of steam turbines, compressors, gas turbines, pumps etc.
  • Assist with P&ID, 3-D piping model, and HAZOP reviews.
  • Conduct design reviews and fabrication inspections, Witness and evaluate performance tests.
  • Keep informed of technological developments in the area of responsibility in order to update knowledge, identify and recommend opportunities for increased effectiveness and/or cost reduction.
  • Provide technical support to multiple projects and operations, as per the requirement, meeting the required quality of work & schedule
  • Support in training of new and/or trainee Engineers to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills to independently perform their tasks. Exchange knowledge with colleague Engineers.

2. Laboratory Technician/ Analyst

The role holders will be responsible for sampling and routine analysis according to schedules and non-routine work on request from the laboratory customers, as distributed by Senior Lab Technician.  In addition, the role holder participates in internal activities necessary to ensure the quality of results.  The role holder also have a role in emergency preparedness as auxiliary firefighters or first-aiders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collect samples for analysis in a safe and representative manner according to analytical schedules or requests from customers.
  • Analyze samples through the application of laboratory Working Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures of Equipment’s to determine the quality characteristics of the samples or the performance of plant & equipment.
  • Timely and correct reporting of test results through LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) that gives necessary information for appropriate actions by the customer.
  • Take responsibility for designated instrument(s) and undertake timely and correct calibration of instruments to ensure integrity of instrument data outputs.
  • Perform proper housekeeping to keep the laboratory as a good and safe work environment.
  • Participate as auxiliary fire fighter in plant during emergencies.
  • Know documentation and implement requirements of Laboratory Quality Management System as per accreditation standard ISO 17025:2017. 
  • Know the manufacturing processes phases in case of Urea, Ammonia and Melamine products.

3. Engineer, Electrical (Engineering)

Roles in this level have responsibility for planning, prioritizing, executing, and monitoring of Pre-Projects in an efficient and systematic manner and according to the Company’s procedures and specifications and to the Company’s goals and objectives. As a part of Pre-project work, they have the responsibility in analysing the problems, carrying out root cause analysis & engineering calculations to arrive at the optimum techno-economic solution and generate the deliverables to the required quality for execution of Project.  They have a prime role in coordinating with multiple trades and customers to ensure smooth-running of projects. They compile and provide input to the periodic reports within their area of work. They assist their superiors in cost control. 
The role holder must ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with the Company’s Health, Safety and Environment procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Plan work activities, lead various Pre-project teams and liaison with all the stakeholders to ensure execution of assigned project activities to meet set objectives and overcome challenges.
  • Carrying out engineering work for Pre-Projects including root cause analysis, engineering calculations using software, as per codes and standards. Producing engineering deliverables, carrying out required safety & environmental studies to facilitate smooth execution of the Projects.
  • Ensure delivery of Pre-project work with the optimal technical solution and deliverables to the required quality within the set time schedule & cost following Project Execution Guidelines and in compliance with The Company’s Engineering Specifications & Procedures.
  • Develop and maintain/update Specifications/standards on engineering practice within the trades, including incorporation of lessons learnt.
  • Keep informed of technological developments in the area of responsibility in order to update knowledge, identify and recommend opportunities for increased effectiveness and/or cost reduction.
  • Provide technical support to Operations Division, as per the requirement, meeting the required quality of work & schedule.
  • Support in training of new and/or trainee Engineers to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills to independently perform their tasks. Exchange knowledge with colleague Engineers.

4. Reliability Engineer

The role is responsible to support the Head of Reliability Engineering in carrying out the services of the section.
The role is responsible to provide processes, structures, advice and guidance to improve or help sustain overall reliability in order to achieve maximum plant reliability which results in higher profits and less incidents. This role requires the provision of technical support in asset management and problem solving through application of specialized techniques, analytical and structured problem-solving processes.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Facilitate Equipment Criticality Ranking session to set effective and efficient Systematic Maintenance Strategies.
  • Evaluate the existing Preventive Maintenance Task, focusing on effective failure prevention maintenance activities (addressing well identified failure modes) and eliminating unnecessary tasks: Preventive Maintenance Optimization.
  • Identify all possible failure modes in critical plant functional systems, with the final purpose of establishing effective failure prevention maintenance activities: Failure Modes and Effect Analysis.
  • Ensure that major assets installed at production facilities are timely replaced to ensure production continuity. Its main deliverable is an asset replacement plan as input for the two next major plant turnarounds: Long Term Replacements Plan.
  • Analyze production losses and highlight problem areas to make asset owners aware of the weaknesses in the plant and take action to increase reliability.
  • Coordinate the Reliability actions plans for plants’ reliability issues.
  • Perform the training of Reliability tools when is applicable.
  • Participate or lead RCA’s as and when required and follow up on implementation of the relevant recommendations.

5. ICS Engineer/ Automation Security

Roles in this level have prime responsibility to implement and maintain the established Cyber Security procedures and controls for all Automation systems. Ensures that all the established Cyber security controls for various domains of OT Cyber security are implemented by all the Automation groups. Continuously monitor the installed Cyber solutions and keep them updated with latest security updates and threat feeds. Continuously monitor the control system for potential cyber vulnerabilities and implement the vulnerability management program.
Participate in risk analysis of the implemented Cyber controls on a regular basis and execute risk reduction strategies. Actively participate in the Incident management process and maintain Disaster Recovery Plans.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure the Automation systems remain protected against cyber threats by implementing all the identified Cyber security controls to achieve highest on-stream factor of the production plants.
  • Regularly follow up the compliance requirements set by company to protect the automation assets and to ensure business continuity.
  • Execute and support various Automation Cyber Security Projects, prepare cost proposal and coordinate - engineering tasks, planning, procurement, manpower hiring, erection & commissioning.  
  • Work closely with all stake holders and vendor representatives, conduct necessary project meetings and acceptance tests.
  • Follow company procedures for change management.
  • Planning, prioritization, execution, and monitoring of engineering activities to ensure compliance to sound engineering principles and practices.
  • Develop new control strategies for enhanced cyber protection.
  • Participate in the analysis of Automation cyber incidents, involve vendors as required to establish root cause and implement the corrective / preventive actions.
  • Organize the gathered information to improve the Automation System availability / uptime.
  • Maintain the existing frame contracts.
  • Spares planning and periodic review of ROL, based on consumption, to ensure spares availability.
  • Keep informed of technological developments in area of responsibility to identify and recommend opportunities for increased effectiveness and/or cost reduction.
  • Work closely with Cyber solution suppliers and keep up to date with the latest development.
  • Review inputs for development of group operating budget ensuring adequate provision has been made for the funding of all anticipated activities. 
  • Monitor performance against approved levels to ensure effective cost control.
  • Ensure that the technical Documentation are current. 
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the work process and execution.
  • Training of new and/or trainee Engineers to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills to independently perform their tasks. Exchange knowledge with colleague Engineers.

6. Electrical & Instrument Engineer (Project Execution/ Construction)

he position is responsible to manage site supervision of all instrument and electrical projects works for both online and shutdown projects. He shall follow up the Instrument & Electrical erection and installation works on Site to ensure correct installation according to approved for Construction Drawings, verify their status according to schedules and to identify & follow up corrective/recovery actions. 
These project types may range from minor field or system related to major multi discipline projects.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the progress of all field / construction activities.
  • Assist in follow up contractors and subcontractors in Instrument & Electrical discipline scope during construction phases in order to assure the quality, environment, health and safety aspects of the work.
  • Participate in Safety walks and Quality surveillance activities, prepare their reports and follow up the closure of all identified actions.
  • Responsible for progress of all construction activities within Instrument & Electrical discipline.
  • To prepare and follow up with the contractor(s) / sub-contractor(s) pre-commissioning and commissioning activities; planning and execution to ensure that the day-to-day commissioning activities are executed in safe manner and to prepare for & participate in pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).
  • To prepare field progress reports and be capable of identifying and correcting contractual non-conformities.
  • Prepare and report on KPIs for construction activities.
  • Ensure that all activities and works in the area of responsibility are done in full compliance with the HSE requirements of QAFCO and the relevant Authorities.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in electrical / Instrument / Electronic / Control Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience from Fertilizer, Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry. 
  • The candidate shall have proven project experience in managing works related to field instrumentation, process control and safety shutdown systems, Rotating machinery instrumentation & controls, Process Gas Analyzers, experience in the switchboards,  transformers, circuit breakers, UPS, PLCs, distribution boards, control panels, relays, electrical systems of elevator / Lifts, EOT cranes, motors, cables, earthing, Fire and Gas alarm & siren systems, public address systems, IP based audio/video systems, data system & telephone system requirements, CCTV systems, connectivity of electrical/Instrument systems, lighting & power distribution, electrical & instrument systems of HVAC and their interfaces, evaluation of bids and Contracts etc.
  • Work Experience of engaging with project teams for pre-construction reviews and preparation, experience of review of technical document/drawings, preparation of job safety analysis, method statements, schedules, conducting reviews for QA/QC, safety, health and environment, toolbox meetings compliance during site execution, preparation and execution of installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and testing activities, livening up of power, inter-discipline communication and co-ordination, Lock out tag out during job execution, red mark ups, planning, scheduling and progress reporting etc. are preferred requirements for this position.
  • The candidate shall have sound knowledge and application of Knowledge of network architecture, communication protocols, media and accessories (TCP/IP, Modbus, Ether net, fiber optic, network switches etc.), hazardous area standards (NEC/IEC/ATEX), work permit systems, Enclosure protection standards (NEMA/IEC), safety standards, document standards, environment standards and various international standards like IEC/ANSI/ISA/EEMUA etc. applicable to instrument discipline.
  • Must display very high awareness and knowledge for safety procedures of working in in live plants.
  • Ability to operate standard PC Applications. Knowledge of MS Office, MS Projects and or Primavera is essential. 
  • Technical Report Writing Skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret Technical Documentation.

7. Associate General Counsel-Legal Counsel

The role holder leads and oversees the legal operations function within the company. This position is responsible for managing all legal aspects of the business, including contract management, legal disputes, corporate advisory, and interactions with government authorities. The role will manage a team of in-house lawyers and regularly collaborate with the management team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead and oversee the Legal Operations section, ensuring high-quality and timely legal support across business units.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of contract drafting, review, and negotiation, including procurement, commercial, and other business-related contracts.
  • Develop and maintain standard contract templates and contracting policies to improve efficiency and reduce legal risk.
  • Manage external counsels. 
  • Manage all legal disputes, litigation, and arbitration matters involving the company.
  • Collaborate with external counsel where necessary and supervise legal strategies for ongoing disputes.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on a wide range of corporate legal matters including governance, business structure, regulatory obligations (excluding compliance), and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure legal consistency and risk mitigation across all areas of the company’s operations.
  • Serve as the primary legal contact for interactions with government authorities, regulators, and industry bodies.
  • Monitor and assess regulatory developments that may impact the business and advise management accordingly.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of qualified lawyers.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB or equivalent); LLM or JD is an advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience, with significant experience in corporate/commercial legal practice, preferably extensive knowledge of legal systems and business practices in the Middle East.
  • Proven experience in managing a legal team in a complex, multinational, or regional environment.

8. Turnaround Engineer-Static

The role holder is responsible to ensure that all assigned tasks are planned in a systematic, efficient, and economical way, to improve the safety, quality and reliability of the Production Plants.
This role holder is responsible to develop scope of works based on site inputs and inspection reports and prepare budgetary estimates for any materials and service requisition. The role will work closely with maintenance teams, technical, facility maintenance team and contractors to ensure update master plan for any non-Turnaround or Turnaround related activities and coordinate with HSE, Logistic and other disciplines prior execution.
The role holder must ensure that all Turnaround activities are carried out within Budget, Time Scheduled in compliance with QAFCO Occupational Health, Quality, Safety, and Environment procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop Turnaround scope including contract requirement well ahead in accordance with agreed Turnaround milestones
  • Ensure work pack and personnel mobilization plan for unit shutdown and total Turnaround windows
  • Focal point to provide technical input for tender plan, technical evaluation and presentation on contracts managed by the section related to Turnaround in the respective area of responsibility.
  • Participate/coordinate periodical meetings with all involved trades in Overall coordination, Area Coordination, Scope Challenge and LS Contractor Coordination.
  • Identify and ensure required resources, manpower, logistics, specialists, services contract, and spare parts are identified and ordered on time.
  • Review and ensure the schedule is prepared for all the turnaround scope of work in the respective area of responsibility.
  • Ensure the compliance and right application of Turnaround Management System.
  • Work with the business areas owners to ensure that agreed timings, durations and budgets are developed for planned Turnaround activities for his assigned area of responsibility.
  • Implement execution strategy of Turnaround scope, detailed execution schedule, resource optimization and effective communication among all stakeholders including Contractors.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation measures
  • Ensure effective coordination among all stakeholders of Turnaround to accomplish timely completion of all scope of work in the respective area of responsibility.
  • To be leadership with all trades and contractor to ensure proper alignment for all planning and execution activities included in TAR and resources requirements in TAR.
  • Handle unforeseen/emergent scope of work during Turnaround after obtaining necessary approvals as applicable.
  • Overall Coordination of execution of maintenance activities during plant unforeseen shutdowns.
  • Control, monitoring and coordinating of all Turnaround activities including projects and inspection.
  • Coordination and liaising with relevant team for Turnaround preparation activities. 
  • Report and follow-up progress of Turnaround milestones in preparation for the Turnaround.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years proven successful relevant experience in similar roles, preferable Fertilizer companies. 
  • Having full understanding on Static Equipment for major inspection and Repairs during Turnaround (Reformers, Convertors, High Pressure Exchangers, Columns, Vessel, Drums, HP special valves, piping and other).
  • Experiences in SAP/4 HANA EAM and Primavera P6 is an advantage.

9. Turnaround Engineer-Rotating Machinery

The role holder is responsible to ensure that all assigned tasks are planned in a systematic, efficient, and economical way, to improve the safety, quality and reliability of the Production Plants.

  • Minimum of 7 years proven successful relevant experience in similar roles, preferable Fertilizer companies. 
  • Having Full understanding of machines, components, types of the inspection, and familiar with different Machines (Steam Turbine, Gas Turbine, Compressor and Gear boxes), also machine’s auxiliary equipment and static equipment into Compressor House.
  • Experiences in SAP/4 HANA EAM and Primavera P6 is an advantage.

10. Sr. Cyber Security Governance Specialist

Responsible for the development and administration of Cyber Security Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC). Develops reporting metrics, dashboards, and evidence artifacts. Primary responsibility for defining, creating, and monitoring of QAFCO Cyber security policies and procedures in support of regulatory, strategy and policy compliance as well as establishing and managing IT and OT cyber security risk frameworks and Management Systems.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitor and review IT and OT security practices and processes, including changes to systems, methods, procedures, and processes with a focus on improving current business practices and processes to minimize cyber security risk. 
  • Coordinate the design, implementation, operations, and maintenance of the information/cyber security management systems in coordination with the IT department and relevant business units based on the ISO/IEC 27000 family of standards including obtaining ISO 27001 certification where applicable.
  • Design and operate monitoring and improvement activities to ensure compliance both with internal security policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate the establishment of a cyber security management system, based on standards such as IEC/62443 for QAFCO's Operational Technology (OT)/Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in coordination with the Maintenance department.
  • Maintain a list of incompatible duties (segregation of duties or SOD) related to IT and OT systems and applications and manage the risk associated with SOD.
  • Draft reports to the IT Steering Committee on the Cyber Security risks and the status of the Information Security Management System (ISMS).
  • Implement and continuously improve the information classification process.
  • Deliver the projects delegated from the Head of Cyber Security Plan, prepare and execute GRC projects.
  • Oversee the implementation and execution of IT and OT cyber security strategical initiatives, provide executive reports to the Head of Cyber Security on demand.
  • Support the development and implementation of IT and OT cyber security risk management frameworks.
  • Validate the identified IT and OT cyber security risks and risk registers in a timely manner.
  • Support the continuous improvement of IT and OT cyber security risk management programs, processes, and practices.
  • Monitor and report the progress of risk management practices identified during security and vulnerability assessments, penetration testing to the Head of Cyber security.
  • Assure that cyber security processes and practices are in line with internal and external requirements. Responsible for internal and external audit compliance, and remediation of possible findings in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the compliance management framework liaising with internal relevant functions and external regulatory authorities
  • Research and create a proposal on how to utilize the latest cyber security standards.
  • Develop, implement, and operate a comprehensive Cyber security awareness program to meet maturity level objectives aligned with Cyber security strategy
  • Design awareness metrics and KPIs and report against them on regular basis.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years direct and relevant experience.
  • In depth knowledge of risk and security frameworks, standards and best practices (e.g. ITIL, COBIT, ISO2700x, IEC/62443)
  • Credentials: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), CISSP, Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC).
  • Key Accountabilities:
  • Monitor and review IT and OT security practices and processes, including changes to systems, methods, procedures, and processes with a focus on improving current business practices and processes to minimize cyber security risk. 
  • Coordinate the design, implementation, operations, and maintenance of the information/cyber security management systems in coordination with the IT department and relevant business units based on the ISO/IEC 27000 family of standards including obtaining ISO 27001 certification where applicable.
  • Design and operate monitoring and improvement activities to ensure compliance both with internal security policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate the establishment of a cyber security management system, based on standards such as IEC/62443 for QAFCO's Operational Technology (OT)/Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in coordination with the Maintenance department.
  • Maintain a list of incompatible duties (segregation of duties or SOD) related to IT and OT systems and applications and manage the risk associated with SOD.
  • Draft reports to the IT Steering Committee on the Cyber Security risks and the status of the Information Security Management System (ISMS).
  • Implement and continuously improve the information classification process.
  • Deliver the projects delegated from the Head of Cyber Security Plan, prepare and execute GRC projects.
  • Oversee the implementation and execution of IT and OT cyber security strategical initiatives, provide executive reports to the Head of Cyber Security on demand.
  • Support the development and implementation of IT and OT cyber security risk management frameworks.
  • Validate the identified IT and OT cyber security risks and risk registers in a timely manner.
  • Support the continuous improvement of IT and OT cyber security risk management programs, processes, and practices.
  • Monitor and report the progress of risk management practices identified during security and vulnerability assessments, penetration testing to the Head of Cyber security.
