Required jobs in Qatalum company and their details:
1. Electronic Board Repair Technician
To provide technical expertise in diagnosing and repairing faults on complex microprocessor-based PCBs. The role requires an in-depth understanding of embedded systems, digital electronics, memory interfaces, and advanced rework techniques for high-density boards. Electronic Board Repair Technician will support production and field return analysis through detailed fault isolation and resolution at the component level.
Job Description:
- Perform advanced fault diagnosis on microprocessor-based electronic boards using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and in-circuit testers.
- Identify failures in microprocessor circuits, including memory subsystems, power rails, crystal oscillators and clock distribution.
- Conduct component-level troubleshooting and repair, including BGA components.
- Experience in Recover and reprogram firmware
- Perform soldering and rework with high precision.
- Run post-repair functional and regression tests to ensure full board recovery.
- Use custom test jigs or emulators to simulate real-world conditions for board verification.
- Collaborate with teams (APICS/Process/Maintenance/Production) to assist in debugging hardware/software interface issues.
- Document detailed repair processes, including root cause analysis, replaced components, and test outcomes.
- Maintain accurate repair logs in compliance with ISO/IPC standards and internal quality systems.
- Support reliability improvement initiatives by identifying design weaknesses or recurring field failures.
- Act as a technical expert and provide knowledge sharing with technicians.
- Work closely with teams to feedback on hardware failures and suggest process for repair improvements.
- Support reverse engineering efforts when required for obsolete or undocumented hardware.
- Support the development and training of National employees.
- Provide input and recommend the continuous improvement of the company practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment.

Job Specific Skills
- Proven expertise with rework, JTAG debugging and memory interface diagnostics.
- Strong knowledge of digital logic, embedded system architecture and power electronics.
- Ability to read and interpret complex circuit diagrams, PCB layouts and datasheets.
- IPC-7711/21 certification (Rework, Modification and Repair of Electronic Assemblies).

2. Supervisor Welding/Fabrication/Repair Machine Shop
To be accountable for the operation of Mechanical Workshop within the Central Maintenance organization. The Supervisor of the Mechanical Workshop is an executional Supervisor and is therefore expected to work closely with his team in the execution of maintenance in addition to Supervising the team.
Job Description:
- Prepare, execute and follow-up of workshop activities in coordination with the production/maintenance units on daily basis.
- Handle work orders SAP PM according to defined work processes.
- Responsible for work order execution using internal/external services.
- Repair of machines/equipment
- Ensure skilled personnel by developing/follow-up of training plan for the assigned section.
- Generate or assist in generation of any departmental reports are prepared as per management request, in a timely and accurate manner to meet company and department requirements governing reporting.
- Follow of all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

3. Startup Operator
To assist foreman in carrying out various start-up activities (pot preparation, start-up and early life) to sustain an efficient and safe activity of start-up activities. The areas of responsibility include bath generation, Anode covering with ACM, metal addition for newly started pots, fixing cooling lances ,raw material addition ,flexible & stem voltage drop correction, replacing the reinforce start-up hoods, ensure readiness of crushed bath, preheat monitoring (48 hours)
Job Description:
- During the start-up phase of the pot line, the main responsibilities will include monitoring and maintaining the started-up pot, adding raw materials, skimming & removal of carbon dust, also to do the metal addition to the pots that has been started 48 hours ago as per Standard operating Procedure (SOPs)
- During this phase the operator is responsible to generate bath for next day’s pot which is going to be started, this will occur by crushed bath addition to donor pots and addition of soda ash to maintain the bath chemistry on the early life phase of the pots.
- Monitoring pot preheating and taking corrective action on flexible stem voltage drops.
- Forklift & overhead crane operation to meet activities during pot start-up and early life of pots
- Immediate action to be taken for any abnormality during pot preparation, preheat monitoring, start-up, and early life pots such as fallen anode, poor current distribution, low cathode temperature, shunt red hot, wedge not possible to remove, clad failure, and low bath etc.
- Assist contractors with training needs, ensuring they have sufficient skills and knowledge to do the job in a safe and productive way. Will insure that on non-routine critical tasks, all employees conducting the tasks are aware of the tasks hazards prior to starting work.
- Coach contractor to perform work to Qatar Aluminium’s standard work procedures and practices, obey plant and department rules and formally observe employees to insure compliance.
- Investigate and take corrective action immediately for any abnormalities such mixture of alumina, graphitized dust and Aluminium fluoride leakage into the pot. Report all deviations to shift supervisor and also communicante to reliever.
- Initiate SAP notifications for equipment breakdown and liaise/co-operate with Start-up coordinator f or preventive maintenance (PM) and release equipment for maintenance checks.
- Communicate frequently with Pot room operation team for resource sharing (PTM & Service crane, bath generation, electrical isolation, forklift and bobcat etc.)
- Participate regularly in work teams, making a positive contribution.
- Encourage employee awareness of health, safety and environmental protection.
- Implementing the QBS principles of recycling materials, reducing waste of energy and other resources such as compressed air.
- Comply with all agreed occupational health, safety and environmental regulations in order to protect personnel and physical assets. Ensures that the work areas are kept in a clean and tidy state in order that work can be carried out safely and effectively.
- Ensure HSE leading indicator target achieve within the team.

- Develop and gain approval for department policies and procedures ensuring their alignment to overall business objectives. Monitor and control implementation and advice on the policy application ensuring that they are properly communicated and widely understood.
- Establish, implement, monitor and review the necessary operating procedures for Start-up activities of 704 cells.
Requirements:
- High School (Grade 12) certificate
- Required experience
- 5 years’ experience in an Operator role (pot line operation within an Aluminium smelter)
- Minimum three year Experience of potline start-up (point feed high amperage pots > 300 kA)
